Inside the Industrial Event Ecosystem: What Half a Million Pages Reveal

An intelligence report on the structure of industrialcorp.org and the functional-safety event catalog behind it. Every figure below is computed directly from two catalog files (fseventsall.jsonl, fseventsbatch2.jsonl) and a live fetch of the sitemap index plus all 528 child sitemaps on 2026-08-05. Full breakdowns are in corpus_stats.json alongside this report.


1. The headline shape: a people platform with an events engine

The live sitemap index resolves to 528 child sitemaps containing 527,744 URLs. The section split:

Three structural ratios define the ecosystem:

  • 17.6 people pages per event page (494,161 profiles / 28,065 events). The site is overwhelmingly a directory of individuals; events are the connective tissue, not the bulk.
  • 895 profiles per company (494,161 / 552) and 51 event pages per company (28,065 / 552). Organizations are a thin layer — 552 company pages anchor nearly half a million person pages.
  • 6.2 events per series (28,065 / 4,534). Series act as mid-level groupings roughly six events deep on average.

The static layer is minimal: 32 URLs, of which 29 are /c/ category pages, plus the root, a companies index, and a places index. Discovery is driven by the 400 facet pages, not hand-built static content.

Zero of the 528 child sitemaps failed to fetch or parse (unfetchedorinvalid_children: 0), so these totals are complete as of the crawl date.

2. The catalog: 15,752 events built as a coverage lattice

The two catalog files contain 15,375 + 377 = 15,752 events with 15,752 unique source_ids and 0 duplicates across files. Key totals:

  • 3,895 unique titles across 15,752 events — 4.0 events per title on average, meaning each topic is deliberately re-run across multiple formats and audiences rather than existing as a one-off.
  • Every single event is 30 minutes (min 30, max 30, mean 30.0). That is 472,560 total minutes — 7,876 hours of content.
  • One category: functional-safety (all 15,752 events).
  • Dimensions: 112 unique standards, 99 unique systems, 31 formats, 36 audiences.

The catalog covers 56.1% of the site's event URLs (15,752 of 28,065), so the sitemap's events section is larger than the current catalog files — consistent with additional event pages beyond these two batches.

Standards: near-uniform by design

Coverage is engineered flat. The top tier sits at exactly 470 events each: IEC 61508, IEC 61508-2, IEC 61508-3, IEC 61326-3-1, and IEC 62443. Immediately below is a wide band at 469 each: IEC TR 63069, ISO/IEC TR 5469 (AI and Functional Safety), ISO/IEC 42001, SIL Determination and Verification, HAZOP and Risk Analysis Methods, FMEA and FMEDA Techniques, and Fault Tree Analysis and Reliability Modeling. A second tier follows: CE Marking at 379, ISO 12100 at 378, then ISO 13849-1, ISO 13849-2, ISO 13850, and IEC 62998 at 360 each, EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 at 359, and IEC 60204-1 at 299.

Notably, AI-adjacent standards (ISO/IEC TR 5469, ISO/IEC 42001, IEC TR 63069) sit in the same 469-event band as the classic IEC 61508 family — AI safety is treated as a first-class pillar, not a niche.

Systems: robotics-first, with a deliberate gap

The top system tags are Pharmacy Automation Robots and Laboratory Automation Robots at 240 each, followed by a band at 235 each: Humanoid Robots, Bipedal Humanoid Robots, Wheeled Humanoid Robots, Mobile Manipulators, Warehouse Sortation Robots, Pallet Shuttle Systems, Parcel-Handling Robots, and Legged Quadruped Robots. Below that: Hospital Logistics Robots 230; Inspection, Confined-Space, and Wall-Climbing Robots 215 each; Cobots, Industrial Robot Arms, Six-Axis Articulated, SCARA, and Delta Robots 210 each.

752 events carry no system tag — this is the enriched batch-2-style set, and it is the single largest "system" bucket in the catalog (4.8% of all events).

Formats: one flagship, thirty workhorses

Live webinar leads at 752 events — exactly matching the no-system enriched set. The remaining 30 formats are a tight band from 489 to 509: Audit-Readiness Workshop 509, Practical Workshop and Masterclass 507 each, Lunch-and-Learn 506, Refresher Course 505, Design Review Session / Risk Assessment Workshop / Worked-Examples Session / Hands-On Lab / Gap Analysis Workshop 504 each, down through Technical Briefing at 489. The 20-event spread across 30 formats (509 vs 489) is a 4% variance — effectively uniform.

Audiences: 36 personas, evenly served

Audience tags run from Regulatory Affairs Specialists at 427 down to System Integrators at 405 — a 22-event spread across 36 personas. The top of the table: Regulatory Affairs Specialists 427, Auditors 424, Mechatronics Engineers 423, then Engineering Managers, Robotics Startup Founders, Maintenance Technicians, and Functional Safety Engineers at 422 each. The same 752 events are missing an audience tag — again the enriched set.

Title language: a fixed grammar

Title keyword counts expose the naming formula: safety 15,424; functional 15,098; explained 15,019; certification 15,004 — all four appear in roughly 95%+ of the 15,752 titles. The bigrams confirm it: "functional safety" 15,094 and "safety certification" 15,000. Below the formula layer sit the differentiators: robots 10,517; IEC 5,357; ISO 4,321; autonomous 1,378; "humanoid robots" 705; automation 665; drones 564; "iec 61508" 537; "iec 62443" 511; "fault tree" 478.

In practice nearly every title follows the pattern "[System] [Standard] Explained — Functional Safety Certification," which is why 3,895 unique titles expand to 15,752 events.

3. The cross-matrix: flat lattice plus one concentrated core

Standard-by-system pairs are flat by construction: a typical cell holds about 5 events (e.g., IEC 61508 x Humanoid Robots = 5; IEC 61508-2 x Humanoid Robots = 5; ISO 13849-1 x Humanoid Robots = 5). With 112 standards and 99 systems, the catalog is a broad shallow lattice — maximum topical surface area, minimal depth per cell.

The only concentration in the entire matrix is the no-system enriched set: UL 4600 & Autonomous Systems 46, ISO 26262 44, Functional Safety Foundations 40, ISO 10218 31, ISO 13849 Machinery Safety 30, R15.06 30, ISO/PAS 8800 27, then a run of themed 25-count blocks (IEC 62443, V-Model, AI/ML Safety, ISO 21448 SOTIF, ISO 21434, ISO 26262-11 semiconductors, and others). This 752-event core reads as the editorially curated flagship layer sitting on top of the generated lattice — it is also the only set tagged Live webinar and the only set without audience tags.

4. What the shape tells you

  1. This is a professional-graph play, not a content play. 93.6% of the site is people pages. Events (5.3%) exist to give 494,161 profiles something to attach to; 552 company pages give the graph an organizational spine at 895 profiles per company.
  2. The catalog is engineered for coverage, not popularity. Standards cluster in flat tiers (a 469-470 top band, then 378-379, 359-360, and 299), formats sit at 489-509, audiences at 405-427, and cross-cells at roughly 5. Within each band the counts vary by only a few percent. Any future concentration (traffic, registrations) will be signal from the market, not an artifact of supply.
  3. The 752-event enriched set is the strategic core. It is simultaneously the largest system bucket (no tag), the largest format (Live webinar, 752), the entire missing-audience set (752), and the only place the cross-matrix concentrates (UL 4600 46, ISO 26262 44). It carries the autonomous-systems and automotive standards the flat lattice barely touches.
  4. AI safety is positioned as a peer of legacy functional safety. ISO/IEC TR 5469, ISO/IEC 42001, and IEC TR 63069 each have 469 events — identical to HAZOP and FMEA/FMEDA.
  5. Robotics is the vocabulary of the catalog. "Robots" appears in 10,517 of 15,752 titles (66.8%), and the top named systems are all robot classes, led by pharmacy and laboratory automation at 240 each.

5. Methodology

  • Catalog figures: computed over all 15,752 records in fseventsall.jsonl (15,375) and fseventsbatch2.jsonl (377); source_id dedupe across both files found 0 duplicates.
  • Site figures: live fetch of https://industrialcorp.org/sitemap.xml and all 528 child sitemaps on 2026-08-05; 0 children failed to fetch or parse. URL counts are sums of loc entries per section.
  • Counting notes: keyword and bigram counts are per-title token matches; the format list contains both "Live webinar" (752) and "Live Webinar" (501) as distinct source strings, and both are reported as-is. "(missing)" rows denote events with no value for that field — 752 for system and audience, corresponding to the batch-2-style enriched set.
  • Full top-20/top-40 tables, 30 bigrams, 40 cross-matrix pairs, and the duration distribution are preserved in corpus_stats.json.
